Dirty Bombs

I think this is a little over-simplistic. While soundbites and aphorisms often capture a truth in a wrapper which allows the receiver more freedom to interpret it, it doesn’t allow for the big picture.

Take a look at some of Jesus’ followers. Nicodemus was a pharisee and a member of the Sanhedrin, a man who could not be more a part of the establishment. Jesus uncle, Zachariah, was a priest. Luke was a physician, an educated member of Roman society, and Paul was a Roman citizen who traded on his citizenship. While I agree broadly that the American Right Christians has often gone in the wrong direction, I can’t see enough truth in your picture of Christianity. Yes, Jesus was outspoken in his criticism with the Pharisees, but he used the Tabernacle to proclaim his truths.

If the focus is on anti-establishmentism, we will miss the mark. If the focus is on humility and love (which both sides of this are missing) we can’t go too far wrong.
